SLUGGISH START

Paris St Germain have made a poor start to the new campaign. They have already lost a lot of ground domain title rivals Monaco this season.

This is despite bringing in a big-money names once again in the summer. French football has seen the arrival of two great strikers in the form of Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani. Falcao moved to Monaco, while Edinson Cavani was a £ 55 million signing for PSG. Despite such additions, PSG have struggled under the new management of Laurent Blanc. He took over the club only in the summer to replace Carlo Ancelotti, who left for Real Madrid.

However, there have been signs in recent weeks that he PSG are slowly finding their feet under the new manager. They have been able to score more goals and secure a lot of points in the last few weeks than at the start of the campaign. Unlike in the league campaign, they made a good start to the Champions league season by winning 4-1 against Greek club Olympiakos in the group stages. Cavani was on the scoresheet in this match, while the likes of Marquinhos and Thiago Motta also scored to give the French giants a comfortable victory.

After the match, Blanc praised his players for putting in a great performance.

"The first half we were a little sluggish, because we had problems with positioning on the left side. Olympiacos also had a lot of energy to press us and caused us problems by creating opportunities and corners. Nevertheless, we opened the scoring, but we did not hold it long enough to settle in the game. The second half was much better, positioning was better. I also sincerely believe that the pace of Olympiacos fell because in the first half, they were very aggressive," said Laurent Blanc.
