Cavani Continues Irresistible Form after a Brace against Bordeaux

Edinson Cavani finally looks to be enjoying his time out in the limelight after the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The striker has been in impeccable form over the last couple of games and he took his tally to 8 goals for the campaign after another rout against Caen. The Uruguayan first showed signs of coming back to form in the Champions League match against Arsenal. A goal against the gunners was to be his second in three games. He has taken on the confidence provided by these two goals to the next level quite literally.

After managing to find the back of the net four times in the game against Caen, Cavani has only failed to score in the 2-0 win over Toulouse. He has also scored one goal in only one of these games. The second consecutive brace against Bordeaux has helped him become a strong favourite for the top goal scorer award. When it comes to all competitions, Cavani has taken his tally to 10 goals from just six games. It is this form that has been helping take pressure off manager Unai Emery. After stumbling from early on in the campaign, PSG are now close to securing a lead in the league table.

They are just one point away from Nice, who top the table after eight games."Getting the three points was more important than our performance today. We had the same plan in both halves but we had more possession in the first half and created a lot of chances. The two goals gave us confidence and tranquillity for the rest of the game and we had the same plan in the second half as we wanted another goal to put us at ease. We played with a lot of confidence and played very well," said Cavani.
