Edinson Cavani Responds To Chelsea Transfer Speculation

Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani has clarified that he has no plans of leaving Les Parisiens amid the ongoing speculation linking him with a move to Stamford Bridge. The Uruguay international has scored 28 league goals for the Capital outfit who have cruised towards the Ligue 1 title and they most recently celebrated a treble after winning the French Cup against third-tier minnows Les Herbiers.

Speaking after the Cup triumph, Cavani assured that he is not thinking about a summer exit and he is keen on winning more silverware with the French champions, he said: “My future is here, of course. I think that it has been a good season. We must enjoy moments like these. I am pleased for the supporters to be here. Four consecutive Coupe de France wins represents a lot of history for PSG. We are here to win and win titles for the club.”

Cavani’s position came under question during the early phase of the campaign where he had a fall-out with Neymar in a match against Lyon. However, the pair have since managed to shed their differences apart and Cavani recently admitted that there are no longer issues between him and the world’s most expensive footballer.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are reported on the hunt for a new marksman during the summer transfer window and any new arrival could coincide with the departure of club-record signing Alvaro Morata. The Spaniard has struggled to find his feet since the turn of the year and reports from Italy have suggested that he could re-join Juventus on a two-year loan with the obligation of a permanent deal in the future.

Morata netted 10 league goals for Chelsea during the first half of the campaign but the intensity of the competition has had a toll on him since the start of 2018. The Spaniard has managed just one goal in the top-flight over the past five months and he is currently playing second fiddle to Olivier Giroud in the centre-forward department.

HIGUAIN WILL STAY

Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain has reportedly turned down the opportunity to join Chelsea and Manchester City in the summer according to his father.

The Argentine Gonzalo Higuain has been a huge success at Real Madrid, but he has struggled to get first team opportunities of late due to the form of Karim Benzema.

José Mourinho has often resorted to using the French striker Karim Benzema for the big games. It has apparently made Gonzalo Higuain extremely unhappy, which has led to rumours linking him with Premier league clubs Manchester City and Chelsea.

It is thought that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is personally interested in signing Gonzalo Higuain in the summer. Chelsea could make a bid that will start at around £ 35 million according to Spanish sources.

However, Gonzalo Higuain’s father has said that his son would like to stay with Real Madrid and that there has been no contact with either Chelsea or Manchester City up until now. The 24-year-old striker recently scored his 100th goal in Spain in the match against Osasuna. He has so far scored 25 goals in all competitions this season, despite being used marginally by José Mourinho.

While Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is a personal fan of Gonzalo Higuain, Roberto Mancini is someone who is extremely keen on the player as well. It is thought that in just a City are looking at the replacement of Mario Balotelli with an equally physical player. Gonzalo Higuain seems to have suited them just fine.

“There is nothing in it. He has four years left on his contract and they love him very much,” said Jorge Higuain in response to the transfer speculation surrounding his son. Chelsea are expected to lose Didier Drogba in the summer, and Gonzalo Higuain is being lined up as the potential replacement.
