Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani has backed his international teammate Luis Suarez to become a success at Barcelona. His comments come at a time when Suarez has been struggling for form at the Catalan club.

The former Liverpool striker completed the £ 75 million move to the Camp Nou in the summer and he was expected to make Barcelona a force to reckon with once again. This move also provided Barcelona with one of the most potent attacks – at least on paper – with Lionel Messi and Neymar forming the other two of the trio. This dream combination is yet to click on the pitch, but Cavani expects it to happen soon.

Suarez is playing a different style of football to the one he used to at Liverpool and this is causing him to take a bit of time to show his quality according to Cavani. The 28-year-old has managed only four league goals in 14 appearances.

His goal record is much better when the Champions League appearances are taken into account, but it is still not worthy of what is expected from a £ 75 million player. Suarez’ latest goal came in the 5-0 thrashing of Levante. Last season, he scored more than 30 league goals for Liverpool.

“Luis is getting used to playing a different style of football than he did at Liverpool. Surely it won’t be easy for him. It is a difficult playing scheme because there is a lot of movement and Barca is not used to playing with a ‘pure 9.’With Luis Suarez’s fitness and talent, I am sure he gives a lot to Barca. I think that if a team are used to playing a certain way one has to find a way to adapt to their system. But it depends, because a coach must look for a style of play that adapts to a certain forward,” said Cavani.

Edinson Cavani still favorites of Top Football Clubs

Even though Edinson Cavani is a shadow of the player he once used to be when he performed with Napoli a few years ago, the Uruguayan forward still seems to be attracting the attention of a few top clubs including: Arsenal and Real Madrid.

Ever since Cavani arrived to PSG, he has turn into a regular player for the French side but mostly having to settle watching ZlatanIbrahimovic taking up the spotlight as Ibrahimovic is the most influential player in the entire team and the team is being built around the Swedish forward.

If the rumors are indeed true and Cavani is starting to feel frustrated in PSG then the possibility of him making a move to another club is a real one as Cavani at the age of 27 still has a lot to offer in any team that he joins but considering all of the talented players that Carlo Ancelotti has at his disposal in Real Madrid (C.Ronaldo, Isco, Bale, Benzema, Modric, Rodriguez,Hernandez) it seems highly unlikely that making a move to Real Madrid would benefit EdinsonCavani as he would just have to compete against some of the world’s best players in order to get a regular starting role.

However, making a move to Arsenal would be a much more attractive alternative as Cavani could solve some of the major problems that the Premier League club has been experiencing in this season with injuries keeping out a number of key players in the squad of Arsene Wenger.

A few months ago on July, Arsenal made a splash on the transfer market as they signed Alexis Sanchez for €30 million from Barcelona and they would have pay around the same amount of money in order to bring Cavani to the Emirates Stadium.
