Edinson Cavani still favorites of Top Football Clubs

Even though Edinson Cavani is a shadow of the player he once used to be when he performed with Napoli a few years ago, the Uruguayan forward still seems to be attracting the attention of a few top clubs including: Arsenal and Real Madrid.

Ever since Cavani arrived to PSG, he has turn into a regular player for the French side but mostly having to settle watching ZlatanIbrahimovic taking up the spotlight as Ibrahimovic is the most influential player in the entire team and the team is being built around the Swedish forward.

If the rumors are indeed true and Cavani is starting to feel frustrated in PSG then the possibility of him making a move to another club is a real one as Cavani at the age of 27 still has a lot to offer in any team that he joins but considering all of the talented players that Carlo Ancelotti has at his disposal in Real Madrid (C.Ronaldo, Isco, Bale, Benzema, Modric, Rodriguez,Hernandez) it seems highly unlikely that making a move to Real Madrid would benefit EdinsonCavani as he would just have to compete against some of the world’s best players in order to get a regular starting role.

However, making a move to Arsenal would be a much more attractive alternative as Cavani could solve some of the major problems that the Premier League club has been experiencing in this season with injuries keeping out a number of key players in the squad of Arsene Wenger.

A few months ago on July, Arsenal made a splash on the transfer market as they signed Alexis Sanchez for €30 million from Barcelona and they would have pay around the same amount of money in order to bring Cavani to the Emirates Stadium.

Hodgson dismisses rumors of pressure

Roy Hodgson refused to entertain claims that a significant pressure on him has been reduced after England managed a 2-0 win over Switzerland in the opening Euro 2016 qualifying match. This was seen as of the important and tough matches for the English, who were heavily criticised after a poor World Cup 2014. The team were knocked out of the group stages, thus bringing a huge disappointment to Hodgson’s second international tournament in charge of the national team. After the World Cup, there are a lot of calls for Hodgson to be sacked as the national team boss.

Despite managing to secure a positive result in back-to-back matches, Hodgson refused to accept that pressure on him has reduced. England managed a 1-0 win over Norway in a friendly match before getting this positive result against Switzerland. Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck, who moved to the North London club for £ 16 million, finally showed that he is someone who can score goals on a regular basis after getting two on the night. There were several positives to take from the two matches, but Hodgson believes that the national team still has a long way to go before he can win over his doubters, a legion that has been growing in recent months.
“You’re always under pressure. The day when an England manager is not under pressure, we’re not asking enough of him and his team, so that’s never bothered me. On Monday the players proved what I have been trying to say all along. They proved that, yes the World Cup didn’t go our way and we were very disappointed, but we have been building, we have been changing players, introducing new ones, so it wasn’t a question of us suddenly hitting a brick wall (in Brazil),” said the former Liverpool manager.

Cavani Constantly Thinking About Transfer

Despite moving to PSG only last summer, Edinson Cavani is a name that has constantly been on the transfer pages in the last few months. The Uruguayan forward has expressed his unhappiness at being played out of position due to the presence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Cavani is not the star name at PSG despite his £ 60 million transfer to the French club. Even when he has been used as the main striker during Ibrahimovic’s absence, he has failed to take his opportunities. This poor finishing was one of the reasons for PSG being knocked out by Chelsea in the Champions League last season.

It has been heavily speculated that Cavani was looking for a move to the Premier League. Poor performances at the World Cup 2014, though, appear to have made interested parties, a list that includes Manchester United and Chelsea, sceptical about a potential transfer. Cavani has expressed his desire to one-day play in the Premier League and it may soon come according to the striker. PSG are involved in negotiations with Real Madrid over the transfer of Angel di Maria. The Argentine star is expected to be sold in order to fund the transfer of James Rodriguez.

PSG, meanwhile, are looking to sell Cavani in order to fund the purchase of di Maria. “I am sure I am staying, why would I not be? I am happy in Paris, under contract to PSG and calm. I feel good here. But, as I have already said, it does not only depend on the player. It also depends on the club and what is going on for them. We had some small problems with respect to the position I wanted to play but I feel very good about that,” said Cavani about his situation at PSG and his relationship with Ibrahimovic.

Cavani Continues Bad Form

Uruguay managed to get into the last 16 of the World Cup 2014 in the most stunning fashion after a 1-0 win over Italy in the final group match. However, they cannot maintain their run going after they were knocked out by Colombia in the first knockout stages. Uruguay suffered a 2-0 defeat with both goals coming from Monaco forward James Rodriguez. Uruguay were totally toothless in attack and it has largely been attributed to the lack of striker Luis Suarez. The Liverpool striker was given a four-month suspension from all football activity after being found guilty of biting Chiellini.

Edinson Cavani is also regarded as one of the top strikers in the world, but he has been a poor run of form in the last 12 months. After playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic for most of the season at Paris St Germain, the £62 million striker failed to find the back of the net at the World Cup. He was the main striker for the Uruguay national team after the departure of Suarez, but he was unable to make much impact in the match against Colombia. Despite the exit from the last 16 stage, Cavani says that the future of the national team appears to be in good hands with a number of promising youngsters coming up.

“This group of players have been working together for many years and have achieved wonderful and important things. It’s a fact that there are solid foundations, made up not only of great players but also great people. When you’ve got that, it’s easier to keep building,” said Cavani. Older players like Diego Forlan and Cavani are unlikely to be present at the next World Cup in Russia if Uruguay qualify for this tournament. Uruguay made it to the 2014 edition after beating New Zealand in the play-offs.

Cavani Reveals Uruguay’s Team Hit Badly By Injury To Suarez

PSG’s star striker Edinson Cavani has revealed that the Uruguay national team has been suffering in terms of moral over the last few weeks after they were hit by an injury blow to star striker Luis Suarez. Cavani was expected to partner along with Suarez at the World Cup 2014, but the Liverpool striker has now suffered a setback that has put his participation in the tournament as a major doubt. Despite Cavani being paired along with Suarez, it has been the Liverpool striker who has been expected to get most of the goals.

Cavani will be assisting him, but it looks like the 27-year-old will have to shoulder the team on his own. Heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and Liverpool in the last few months, Cavani has been suffering from poor form for PSG. He has also been unhappy with the way the French club have been utilising him after his £ 60 million move from Napoli last summer. The player has largely been played out wide with preference being given to Zlatan Ibrahimovic to play in the centre. Cavani has said that team morale has hit a new low after learning that Suarez is doubtful for the opening match against Costa Rica.

“We’re all a bit discouraged by what happened (with Suarez). Injuries are always ugly and more so at this time. I think we have to leave him alone now so he can have a good recovery with no anxiety on him. We wish he can join us as soon as possible,” said Cavani. “When I heard (about Suarez) I said ‘no, not now, please’. The truth is that I felt ill, it is something that nobody expected. He is our figurehead, our star,” said Atletico Madrid defender Godin after learning about the injury to Suarez.
