Ibrahimovic determined to win silverware with AC Milan next season

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has emphasised his desire to win silverware with AC Milan after signing a contract extension with the club. The 38-year-old joined the Rossoneri on a short-term deal in January and he contributed 10 goals and five assists from 18 appearances as the club qualified for the Europa League.

He has now put pen-to-paper on a new contract until June 2021 and has expressed his desire to win some kind of silverware with the San Siro outfit, he told the club’s official website: “The choice to return to Milan? I’ve come here to bring Milan back to where it should be and I’ll do everything to achieve our objectives. We need to work hard and make sacrifices but I think in the last six months of last season everyone understood what is needed to achieve our objectives. But we must not forget, we haven’t won anything, yet. In my mind, my objective is always to win something, that’s my objective, I start the season intending to win… To win, simply put.”

Koulibaly stresses Napoli commitment amid United speculation

Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has indicated that he is committed to the team’s cause despite the ongoing speculation linking him with a summer departure. The Senegal international is widely regarded as one of the best central defenders in the world and his stock has risen over the past few years despite Napoli’s struggles to secure regular silverware.

Speaking to reporters, Koulibaly said that he has improved as a player in Naples but he has not won anything to show for the progress. He added that he remains committed to the club, who have believed in his abilities and would like to guide the club to some kind of silverware, he said: “I’ve grown compared to five years ago but I haven’t won anything yet. I’m a Napoli player and I’ll give 100 percent to win something with this shirt. The market is full of talk, I prefer facts, which help us win, and to become great together. Napoli have given me so much. After the initial scepticism, their fans appreciated me. I would like to give them a trophy back.”

Manchester United had lodged a bid worth £95m for the centre-back before the turn of the year but Napoli were adamant that the defender was not for sale. Thereafter, there have been reports indicating that the centre-back could cost more than £120m but the current stance from the player suggests that he won’t be leaving Napoli during the summer.

Napoli recently squandered their chance to secure a trophy after they exited the Europa League at the quarter-final stage to Arsenal. The Serie A club were fancied to get the better of the Gunners, who possess a vulnerable defence, but the opposite was witnessed with the north London club securing a 3-0 aggregate triumph. Napoli return to league action on Monday night with a home game against Atalanta.

Edinson Cavani would make a return to Italy but only to Napoli

For the 1st time in Edinson Cavani´s playing career he has managed to surpass the 30 goals mark scored in a single season for a domestic league competition.

The recently concluded season of 2016-17 has by far been the best season of the Uruguayan attacker who managed to find the back of the net on 35 occasions for PSG.

After such an impressive campaign by Edinson Cavani, he was awarded with the best foreign forward trophy. The 30 year old attacker had to travel to Italy in order to receive this individual recognition, when Cavani stepped up to get his award, he talked about his past as well as his future and also hinted out the possibility of making a return to his former club Napoli.

“I’m so emotional, I cannot find the words. It’s beautiful to come back here, where each Sunday I fought so hard for this shirt and felt such strong emotions. I would move back to Italy, but only to Napoli. I speak with respect for all of the clubs I played for, but all of my family and those who know me already know that this is where I left part of my heart´´

“When I left, I said that if things changed a bit, I would like to come back to Napoli, but I want to come back here while I am still playing at a high level. I don’t want to come back to Napoli when my footballing days are ending, it’s going to be me who decides when I retire, so when I come back, I will still be in form.” Edinson Cavani said as he was very emotional talking about his time spent in Napoli when receiving the award.

It was with Napoli that Edinson Cavani started to attract the attention of top clubs including PSG which eventually decided to sign the Uruguayan attacker for a reported price tag of €63 million.

Napoli wanted to lure EdinsonCavani back to San Paolo

The departure of ZlatanIbrahimovic to Manchester United has opened up a new world of possibilities for EdinsonCavani who always had to settle being in the shadow of the Swedish giant.

Now that Ibrahimovic is scoring goals in the Premier League as a performer of Manchester United, Cavani has the chance to step it up and become the main goal-scoring machine of PSG.

Napoli wanted to lure EdinsonCavani back to San Paolo

Now that Ibrahimovic is scoring goals in the Premier League as a performer of Manchester United, Cavani has the chance to step it up and become the main goal-scoring machine of PSG.

Back in the season of 2012-13, EdinsonCavani became the top goal-scorer of the Italian League, Serie A as he scored 29 goals in that season and the Uruguayan attacker wants to do the same thing but this time with PSG, especially now that Ibrahimovic is gone from the Par des Princes.

During EdinsonCavani’s time in Napoli, he was a prolific goal-scorer as he consistently scored over 20 goals in each season and it was because of his impressive stay in the Italian club that the president of Napoli, Aurelio de Laurentiis wanted to bring back Cavani during the summer transfer window but he failed on accomplishing his mission as the Uruguayan is still a player of Paris Saint-Germain.

Aurelio de Laurentiis confirmed that he was indeed interested in re-signing EdinsonCavani as the president of Napoli recently said: “I called Jean-Claude Blanc, PSG’s general director, to ask whether Edi was for sale. He told me no, and it all stopped there. You know that I’m not generally in favor of players returning, but I really like the way Cavani has kept this bond with this city, it makes me so happy.”

EdinsonCavani is not for sale as the head chiefs of Paris Saint-Germain want to utilize the services of the Uruguayan and have no desire to offload him as the task of Cavani is to replace Ibrahimovic.

NAPOLI WILL BOUNCE BACK

Pepe Reina is of the view that the attitude of Napoli in their previous Serie A game versus Bologna, which they lost, was not right and they were probably still in the hangover of the win that they had registered over Internazionale a week back.

It was only the second defeat for the Blues in the Italian top flight in the ongoing season, but, it influenced their position in the points table significantly as they slipped down straight to no. 3.

Bologna made inroads pretty early in that game as they were up by 2-0 in the first 25 minutes with Destro and Rossettini finding the net. Another goal in the second half thereafter, which was Destro’s second, seemed to almost secure the game for Bologna, but, Gonzalo Higuain had other ideas. If you had backed Napoli to win at that point on the StanJames live betting odds, you could have got as much as 20/1.

The Argentinean produced two back to back strikes close to the injury time to liven up the game, but, it did not prove to be sufficient as the visitors remained short.

Talking to the media after the defeat, Reina said, “Our attitude at the beginning could have been better. I felt humility was lacking a little bit. When you get trailed by 2-0 so early, you can only chase the game. If I had not made that mistake later on, we might have avoided the defeat. So, I take responsibility for that.”

“I think we had perhaps not put that Inter Milan match out of our system. You have to show maturity if you have to maintain the top position. However, we will have to move on. It’s important to get up and get back to winning ways.”

“It’s Roma next for us and they are tough opponents, we know that. But, playing in front of our supporters, we will be confident and hopefully, we are able to fetch three points.”

CAVANI WANTS SPAIN MOVE

Napoli striker Edinson Cavani, who has been linked with several clubs across Europe, has stated that he would like to play in Spain. This has alerted the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Chelsea and Manchester City were thought to have a keen interest in the striker, who has proven in the last few years that he is one of the best in the business. The 26-year-old Uruguay star is widely expected to leave Napoli at the end of the season. The Italian club recently lost their manager Walter Mazzarri, who was instrumental in the success that the club has had in the last four years.

The departure of Cavani, who is loved a lot by the Napoli fans, could signal an end of the era at the club. Napoli recently announced that Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez will be replacing Mazzarri at the club. The arrival of the Spaniard is unlikely to prevent the departure of Cavani, who has been valued by the club in excess of £ 45 million. The 26-year-old finished as the top scorer in the Italian Serie A last season. Cavani is currently looking to help Uruguay win the Confederations cup and also qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

“When we are little we always dream, and the first teams that come into your head are those on the world stage, for their marketing, their image, their publiCity. That makes you dream about how nice it would be to play for Real Madrid, to play for Barcelona. It is all an unknown and nobody knows. When the moment comes we will see. As long as there is nothing signed, there is nothing done. All the talk does not concern me nor distract me. Only God knows what might happen,” said Cavani after the season concluded in Italy.

Edinson Cavani was the stand out performer for Napoli in the match against Roma. The Uruguayan striker was in fantastic form in Monday’s match and he scored three out of the four goals scored by the Napoli team.

Cavani’s hat trick was a bit special. He scored one goal with his right foot, one with his left foot and the third one with his head. So, he scored a perfect hat trick.
With these three goals, Cavani has now become the leading goal scorer in the ongoing Italian Serie A League. He has featured for Napoli in 16 matches in the league so far and has scored 16 goals. Stephan El Shaarawy is at no. 2 with 14 goals.

In the post match press conference, Cavani looked ecstatic. When asked about his performance in the match, he said, “It was one of those days when everything went right for me. I hardly made a mistake. It’s certainly a memorable match for me.”

The manager of Napoli, Walter Mazzarri, also hailed Cavani. Mazzarri said, “It was simply a great performance by Cavani. He looked absolutely unstoppable today and won the match single handedly for us.”

ROSSI BACKS NAPOLI

The former Lazio and Lecce boss Delio Rossi has said that the Italian Serie A title this season will be fought between Juventus and Napoli because they are the two strong teams in the division.

The former Lazio and Lecce boss Delio Rossi has said that the Italian Serie A title this season will be fought between Juventus and Napoli because they are the two strong teams in the division.

Delio Rossi has said that both the Milan clubs will be suffering from a number of changes made during the summer transfer window. While AC Milan have lost a number of high-profile and regular first-team players over the summer, Inter Milan have been extremely prudent in making many good quality signings. Even then, they are in the transitional phase according to the former Lazio manager Delio Rossi.

As a result, he has said that Napoli and Juventus will be the two main favourites to win the title this season. He has praised the squads and tactics of both these clubs by saying that they offer a brilliant combination of all other clubs. Napoli recently managed a major coup by being able to get the star striker Edinson Cavani sign a new deal with the club. As a result, it is expected that he will stay at the club at least for one season before activating his € 60 million release clause.

“The two most complete teams I have seen are Juventus and Napoli. They both followed a strict philosophy. Napoli took a certain type of young player, and that will come in handy not only now but also in the future. Juventus have always targeted players who are already ‘built’. Fiorentina did the only thing they could do – initiate a total revolution. Roma have also recruited well,” Rossi said. Both Napoli and Juventus have made a great start to the season after winning the opening two matches. Juventus are top of the table by virtue of having scored one goal more than Napoli.

CAVANI CLOSE TO NEW DEAL

There have been reports claiming that the Napoli striker Edinson Cavani is close to signing a new deal with the club that will see the release clause in his contract rise to € 60 million.

The Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani is one of the most wanted players in world football after clubs like Manchester city and Chelsea have been after him. However, Napoli have been able to resist the chances of the Premier league and the Spanish clubs. Edinson Cavani was one of the main reasons for the club doing well in the Champions League last season.

However, Napoli have been able to resist the chances of the Premier league and the Spanish clubs. Edinson Cavani was one of the main reasons for the club doing well in the Champions League last season.

Even though they are not in the European competition this time around, it has not prevented Napoli from being able to sign the star striker on a long-term deal. It has been rumoured that Napoli were willing to double the wages of the striker. As result of this new deal, it is highly unlikely that Napoli will be seeing the back of Cavani in this transfer window. Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for the striker especially after having lost Didier Drogba in the summer. The Premier league club only have Daniel Sturridge and Fernando Torres as the two strikers.

Even though they have also been interested in a number of other strikers, Cavani was thought to be at the top of the list. Napoli were demanding around £ 35 million for the striker, but Chelsea were not looking to pay more than £ 28 million. As a result of not matching the transfer fee, the Premier league club were unable to sign the striker. Even Manchester city with all their financial muscle were unable to afford the striker and his extraordinary wages. “We want a striker in the style of Edinson Cavani or [Fernando] Llorente, who are our primary targets along with Edin Dzeko,” said a Juventus official last week.

MANCINI CHOOSES ROBIN

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has hinted that the club would not be making a move for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani after the excessive demands by the Italian club.

He has said that Arsenal striker Robin van Persie is a much more suitable target for the club given that his transfer fee would be relatively low. It has been a shift in the transfer policy for Manchester City after winning their first major title in form of the Premier league.

They believe that they need not pay over the odds to bring in the best quality players. As a result, they are not added to pay more than £ 15 million for Robin van Persie.

This figure would nowhere be closer to the valuation of Edinson Cavani by his club Napoli. It is thought that the Uruguay ace is being valued at close to € 70 million by the Italian club. As a result, even the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea would be priced out of a move for the Uruguay international. Even though Roberto Mancini is a big admirer of Edinson Cavani, he has all but ruled out a possible move for the Uruguay striker.

“Who would I choose between Van Persie and Cavani? The Dutchman is a champion, while the Uruguayan has everything and I wanted to take him to Inter Milan when he played at Palermo. But to take him at the current price is impossible and Van Persie is a different matter altogether. Chiellini? I thought about him last year, not now. There are many other options. Thiago Silva? AC Milan will not sell him. Kolarov? I would like to keep him even though he didn’t play that much in the last few months and that is a difficult situation for him to accept,” Mancini said.
