PSG president: Neymar and Edinson Cavani won’t be leaving the club
Paris Saint-Germain President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has stressed that both Neymar and Edinson Cavani won’t be leaving Parc des Princes during the summer transfer window. The pair have been linked with moves to real Madrid and Atletico Madrid respectively this summer but Al-Khelaifi has insisted that the pair are content in Paris.
Speaking to reporters, he said: “Neymar? I’ve repeated myself 10,000 times already. He’s going to stay at PSG. Neymar’s tired of the rumours about his future. His father told me that his future is in Paris. It’s the Spanish media that are saying otherwise. If you believe them then that’s too bad. Cavani? Not only does have two more years left on his contract, but he’s also happy. He’s a great player, a fighter, the top scorer in the club’s history.”

Neymar’s future has been the subject of speculation over the past couple months amid reports suggesting that he is unhappy in the French capital. However, Al-Khelaifi appears to have ended any gossip regarding the Brazilian’s future and the attacker now appears certain to return to the club for the 2018/19 campaign.
Despite this, the French giants are expected to offload a couple first-team players in order to keep up with their Financial Fair Play requirements. French left-back Layvin Kurzawa has already been offered the opportunity to leave the club during the summer and he could be joined by Adrien Rabiot, who is seeking a fresh challenge after failing to make the World Cup squad with France.
Nevertheless, Paris Saint-Germain will seek to make better progress in the Champions League next season after failing to proceed beyond the round of 16 stage in the previous two editions of the competition. The Capital outfit ended the previous campaign with a domestic treble but they was still not sufficient to keep Unai Emery at the helm. Thomas Tuchel has recently been appointed as the Spaniard’s successor.
Leonardo Jardim Dismisses Paris Saint-Germain Links
AS Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim has dismissed the prospect of succeeding Unai Emery as the next manager of Paris Saint-Germain. Speaking in his pre-match press conference, and the Portuguese rebuffed suggestions that he is interested in become Les Parisiens’ next head coach, he said: “Perhaps he will be Portuguese. However, his name will not be Leonardo Jardim.”
Meanwhile, Emery had his press conference, shortly after Jardim’s exit, and when asked about his future, he replied: “I have experience in football. I know this. I am making the most of each moment. We have objectives and there is a title at stake here. If there are a lot of journalists, it is an important match. I have a responsibility to prepare the team well.”
Paris Saint-Germain were expecting to make significant strides in Europe after spending record fees to secure the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe over the summer. However, they faced a similar disappointment in the Champions League as they were ousted during the round of 16 of the competition by Real Madrid.
There has been a lot of talk of Emery leaving the club during the summer, but the club’s hierarchy have refused to voice their opinion. Despite this, the Capital outfit are likely to have a decision made during the summer with Emery having failed to live to the club’s expectations of reaching at least the semi-final stage of the Champions League.
Thomas Tuchel has been identified as the common target for many elite European clubs including Paris Saint-Germain for the summer, but they could as well return for one of their former managers in Carlo Ancelotti. Ancelotti is said to have a keen preference to make a Premier League comeback, but he could be lured to Parc des Princes with the prospect of making further signings which may eventually propel the club to greater heights in Europe.
Edinson Cavani feels Barcelona’s Champions League comeback was unfair
Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani insists that the Champions League humbling at the hands of Barcelona was unfair owing to a number of wrong decisions made in the game.
Les Parisiens took a 4-0 first-leg lead against Barcelona in the quarter-final stage of the premier competition, and they appeared to be cruising towards the final four before a referee blunder cost them the tie.

Les Parisiens took a 4-0 first-leg lead against Barcelona in the quarter-final stage of the premier competition, and they appeared to be cruising towards the final four before a referee blunder cost them the tie.
The former French champions were trailing at 3-1 in the second leg when a clear penalty on Angel di Maria was denied by referee DenizAytekin. The official later on awarded a spot kick to Neymar which looked as a dive, and this brought the Catalan giants back into the game with a late winner from Sergio Roberto clinching a notable 6-1 win for the Spanish club.
Speaking to French publication L’Equipe, the Uruguay international reflected on the result stating that anyone who had watched the highlights would realise the refereeing injustice made in the return leg, he said: “That [game] marked the history of PSG. It is a moment that has affected us all and it was something inexplicable and unexpected. Just turn on the TV and watch the images of the game to realise why it was unfair.”
The former Napoli player also expressed that his fellow teammates deserved more from the encounter, and there is still a sense of sadness among the group, he added: “It is true that with a 3-1 [score] nobody could imagine such a comeback, but then several things happened that made us lose. We feel a great sadness, bitterness and rage, as the things that happened aren’t normal in football.”
As a result, Les Parisiens not only lost their quest for the European title but also lost their French title to AS Monaco, who lost just three games over the course of their Ligue 1 winning season.
