AC Milan technical director Paolo Maldini has confirmed that the Rossoneri have an automatic renewal clause in the contract of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in case they manage to qualify for next season’s Champions League. The San Siro outfit have endured a difficult season by their standards in the Serie A and they are presently 11 points adrift of fourth-placed Atalanta BC, having played an extra game more.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Maldini confirmed that Ibrahimovic’s contract could be automatically extended beyond the six-month deal signed in January, should the club qualify for the Champions League next term. Otherwise, Maldini is still optimistic of convincing him to stay and believes the club will play an offer on the table for the Swede.
