Edinson Cavani Responds To Chelsea Transfer Speculation

Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani has clarified that he has no plans of leaving Les Parisiens amid the ongoing speculation linking him with a move to Stamford Bridge. The Uruguay international has scored 28 league goals for the Capital outfit who have cruised towards the Ligue 1 title and they most recently celebrated a treble after winning the French Cup against third-tier minnows Les Herbiers.

Speaking after the Cup triumph, Cavani assured that he is not thinking about a summer exit and he is keen on winning more silverware with the French champions, he said: “My future is here, of course. I think that it has been a good season. We must enjoy moments like these. I am pleased for the supporters to be here. Four consecutive Coupe de France wins represents a lot of history for PSG. We are here to win and win titles for the club.”

Cavani’s position came under question during the early phase of the campaign where he had a fall-out with Neymar in a match against Lyon. However, the pair have since managed to shed their differences apart and Cavani recently admitted that there are no longer issues between him and the world’s most expensive footballer.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are reported on the hunt for a new marksman during the summer transfer window and any new arrival could coincide with the departure of club-record signing Alvaro Morata. The Spaniard has struggled to find his feet since the turn of the year and reports from Italy have suggested that he could re-join Juventus on a two-year loan with the obligation of a permanent deal in the future.

Morata netted 10 league goals for Chelsea during the first half of the campaign but the intensity of the competition has had a toll on him since the start of 2018. The Spaniard has managed just one goal in the top-flight over the past five months and he is currently playing second fiddle to Olivier Giroud in the centre-forward department.

Leonardo Jardim Dismisses Paris Saint-Germain Links

AS Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim has dismissed the prospect of succeeding Unai Emery as the next manager of Paris Saint-Germain. Speaking in his pre-match press conference, and the Portuguese rebuffed suggestions that he is interested in become Les Parisiens’ next head coach, he said: “Perhaps he will be Portuguese. However, his name will not be Leonardo Jardim.”

Meanwhile, Emery had his press conference, shortly after Jardim’s exit, and when asked about his future, he replied: “I have experience in football. I know this. I am making the most of each moment. We have objectives and there is a title at stake here. If there are a lot of journalists, it is an important match. I have a responsibility to prepare the team well.”

Paris Saint-Germain were expecting to make significant strides in Europe after spending record fees to secure the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe over the summer. However, they faced a similar disappointment in the Champions League as they were ousted during the round of 16 of the competition by Real Madrid.

There has been a lot of talk of Emery leaving the club during the summer, but the club’s hierarchy have refused to voice their opinion. Despite this, the Capital outfit are likely to have a decision made during the summer with Emery having failed to live to the club’s expectations of reaching at least the semi-final stage of the Champions League.

Thomas Tuchel has been identified as the common target for many elite European clubs including Paris Saint-Germain for the summer, but they could as well return for one of their former managers in Carlo Ancelotti. Ancelotti is said to have a keen preference to make a Premier League comeback, but he could be lured to Parc des Princes with the prospect of making further signings which may eventually propel the club to greater heights in Europe.

Unai Emery not worried about his Paris Saint-Germain future

Paris Saint-Germain manager Unai Emery is not worried about his future, despite Les Parisiens’ 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 first-leg. The French outfit went head-to-head with the European champions for most of the game, but their workrate dropped in the dying stages which enabled Los Blancos to capitalise.

Speaking in his weekly press conference, Emery stressed that the Champions League defeat won’t have any implication on his future at Parc des Princes, and he remains convinced that the club can overturn the deficit in the home leg next month.
